The Perfume
of His Presence
Recently I was lying in the hospital bed in my room
when this perfume, a sweet rich mesmerizing scent that arose
in my room the scent of which was somewhat like almonds, hazelnuts,
sweet butter, and other oils or spices that I could not discern.
The wisps were intoxicating, as they wafted past, glorious
odors that drew one’s attention, and left one longing for
one more breath. Within a few moments the presence of God
stole over my being making me know that the perfume that was
in my room was the Lord’s. O how great and wondrous is our
God.
How sweet is His presence, how
enthralling is it to wait before my beloved. In Him are light
and life, and at His touch, at His ministration glory and
wonder fill the soul. His scent is in me and upon me. Blessed
is he who hears His voice, blessed is he who discerns his
Master’s coming. The presence of God calms one’s soul, it
gives rest to one’s spirit, it is as honeysuckle wine and the eating of fine handcrafted
confectionaries that tickle the mouth and throat as they partaken
of. So is the Lord of my Lord unto me.
The gathering in His arms is better than ten wives
unto me. His faithfulness is as a host that are gathered around me that guard and watch over
me.
I remain powerless as I rest in
His hands. Happy, satisfied, filled with wonder and delight
so is my beloved unto me. O I wish that all might know the
Lord even as I know and have known Him, even in the richness,
and the fullness of His presence. His perfume and scent are
coming unto me even as the ebb and flow of ocean waves that
lap against the shore on a moonlit tropical beach.
A wave rolls in gently easing across the shore and
then recedes unto the next wave which then reaches out again.
Wait upon the Lord. Wait I say upon the Lord and He shall
strengthen your heart. He shall confirm those that are of
weak knees, and refresh those that are weary.
O to lean upon my beloved and
hear His heart. Taste and see for the presence of God is real
meat indeed and real drink that satisfieth the longing soul. It is the secret place of the
Most High. It is blessed to be seated under the shadow of
the Almighty. It is the entering in unto His rest.
How sweet and
tender are His mercies, How sweet and rich is the perfume
of my Lord, my Master, and my Savior, my God Jesus Christ.
